Our Story
Based in Melbourne, one of the world’s best coffee cities, the Company’s Founder is very passionate about engaging with people through coffee. He has been traveling around connecting with people of diverse cultures through coffee.
Originating from Penang, Malaysia, he sees a resemblance between Melbourne and Penang in many aspects. Not only both are the second largest cities in their respective countries, they are the center of tourism, arts, heritage, food and murals. In recent years, cafés have been mushrooming in Penang.
Practically at every corner and every street, there are artisanal cafés of unique characters. Such scene is again pretty similar as in Melbourne.
The surge in café industry results in the rise in coffee standard, expectation and quality in Penang. As the Company’s Founder fondly inscribed during a coffee forum during the International Halal Expo “While Melbourne is the globally renowned coffee city, Penang is emerging as an international coffee city in Asia”.
Coffee inevitably is re-shaping the future economic landscape of Penang to some extent. This belief inspires the birth of KQYE- Marketplace Sdn Bhd, fondly known as KQYE.

Business Activities
F&B Distribution
In June 2015, KQYE became the first company distributing Dimattina, the Australia award-winning coffee beans, in Asia. Tracing its history as early as 1954, the Italian descendant Dimattina is the first coffee beans roaster in Melbourne, Australia. Today, it has grown to become one of the market leaders in Australia, winning numerous awards through Prima Tazza, Dimattina’s competition coffee beans. Dimattina also became the first coffee beans roaster in Australia certified Halal by the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (JAKIM).
Expanding from coffee beans, KQYE also became the first B2B distributor of Delonghi in Malaysia. Founded 1902 in Italy, Delonghi is now the world’s largest fully automatic coffee machine maker. In most of the developed nations, Delonghi controls the largest market size of office coffee machines. Every piece of its coffee machine is still made and exported from Italy today. Every piece of coffee machine sold by KQYE carries direct warranty by Delonghi Malaysia.
As part of its CSR initiatives to support small farms, KQYE promotes organic certified Yarra Valley tea which, as the name suggests, is produced and packed at the nature rich Yarra Valley region in Victoria, Australia. The premium quality Yarra Valley offers a wide variety of tea, ranging from Black Tea, Chai Tea, Green Tea, Herbal Tea to Functional Tea.
While many F&B establishments in Malaysia use mediocre quality chocolate powder, KQYE imports Hush, a premium grade authentic chocolate powder made in Australia.
In-house Boutique Café Operation
While most café outlets are set up at prominent locations in town, KQYE specializes on setting up Courtyard Café, a chain of in-house boutique cafés inside factories and corporate suites. It is KQYE’s aspiration bringing value-for-money café lifestyle into closed communities. The primary characteristic of such in-house boutique café is that it is compact in size, lowly priced yet offering uncompromising quality, hence creating irresistible value for all patrons. .
